Marketing and Strategy Direction / Data division / Data FactorySpecific Functions/Activities Summary
In the Data Factory Team, reporting to the Head of Data Science, the Data Analyst will:
• Build datasets and dashboards to deliver transformed data and insights to internal stakeholders across multiple departments
• Create custom reporting solutions for high tier customers to pivot data and generate insights in unique and interesting ways
• Help the organization grow and scale by enhancing customer engagement, understanding customer behavior and automating user outreach
• Provide analysis of quantitative and qualitative data from internal and external data sources in support of business decisions
• Work with our team of Data Engineers to identify high value data sources and build requirements to facilitate data gathering, storage and retrieval
• Build tools to automate workflows and generate insights for internal stakeholders
• Support the Data Governance team in the Data Governance Policy deploymentTechnical skills
• Ability to work in a GCP Cloud environment (BigQuery, GCS, etc.)
• Mastering writing production-level Python code to conduct data analysis
o Knowledge of Python libraries for data analysis (Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn)
o Knowledge of Python visualization libraries (matplotlib, plotly, seaborn)
o Ability to write production code (software design, unit testing, packaging modules)
• Mastering visualization tools (Spotfire, Tableau, Alteryx, Google Data Studio, etc.)
• Ability to use Excel to assist with basic data analysis
o Ability to use shortcuts, formula functions, and create pivot tables
o Ability to create charts and graphs to visualize data
• Experience with variety of relational & non-relational databases.
o Must understand GCP DB design (relational and non-relational).
o Strong in query languages (SQL, Spark)
• Knowledge in DevOps tooling and workflows is a plus
o Should understand version control best practice (i.e. Git, Github)
o Should understand project management tools (JIRA, Confluence, etc.)
o Should understand CI/CD best practices and tools
• Interest in more advanced topics in analytics (Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence)Soft skills
• Interpersonal skills with ability to develop relationships across multiple business groups
• Highly advanced analytical skills and ability to learn new reporting platforms
• Excellent presentation, written and oral communication skills; ability to explain complex analytical concepts in short hand to a broad audience
• Ability to be pro-active and outgoing with project management and with the ability to unify people around multiple projects will have highest probability for success
• Passion for news organizations and an understanding of the business models behind them
• You have an entrepreneurial attitude toward work and sweat the details
• A collaborative mindset and sense of curiosity is essential
• Ability to work within an Agile organizationQualifications
• Graduated from Business, Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Computer Science, Economics, or a related school
• 5+ years of experience in a data analytics or similar roleLanguage
